THE DAMAGE

More than a surface scuff

This Ford EcoSport had a creased rear wheel arch and a scuffed rear bumper after contact with a gate post. The damage affected the shape of the arch as well as the painted finish, so the repair needed more than a surface polish.

The before photographs show the scraping around the wheel arch and onto the adjoining bumper corner. The affected metal needed reshaping before the paintwork could be refinished.

THE REPAIR

Restoring the shape, then the finish

We stripped back the damaged area and used metal-pulling pins to bring the crease back into shape. The arch was then prepared and primed ready for refinishing.

The fuel flap was removed, and the adjoining bumper corner was moved away from the quarter panel during preparation. Surrounding panels and the wheel were masked before painting.

The scuffed bumper corner was prepared alongside the arch. Both areas were repainted, together with the fuel flap, with the photographs recording each stage of the work.

THE RESULT

The arch and bumper finished together

The finished photographs show the restored curve of the rear wheel arch and the refinished bumper corner. Views from several angles show the repaired area with the fuel flap and bumper back in place.

The wheel-arch crease and bumper scuff were handled together, restoring the existing damaged areas through one repair job.
